as a non profit this is really a business my city gives over 100.000.00

to them and maintained the building and grounds for them they have the nerve to charge the residents up to 47 dollars a month and a 25 dollar joining fee and 75 dollar fee to use other y in area so half the residents can not afford it there open door income policy is a joke the best discount for low income is 15,000 a year or less you can get 50 percent off the price per month and you have to jump thru hoop to get it

like any one who make 15 thousand a year could afford it at 220 a year plus 12 50 membership and all they have is a gym basket ball and some bs classes and the pool open in summer and the city gave away our rec center to them and took away all our parks except 2 one has nothing in it and the other has 2 basketball hoop in a parking lot and a soccer field how we are getting screwed by the city and the y as there board of directors and chairman pull down 6 figure incomes everyone should call there national office who by the way only consult for the local y's across the country joke and put a hurt on them by telling them you are going to go to there donor and request that they stop giving to them cause they are screw people and lining there own pockets

This place offers after school care for kids. I came here to pick up my friend's kid and was really disturbed to see how it was being run. The kids themselves are so cute and actually very well behaved. But the place had no air conditioning and it is super hot inside. they were all sweating. The staff are all overweight and grumbling, a bunch of strange women sitting in a corner and gossiping. They did not help the kids. There were two young college students - both young girls - they were running around and doing everything for over 20 kids. The women in charge just sat there and did nothing. They were complaining a lot too. When I came in to pick up my friend's son, they ignored me. I got ready to go and went up to them to check that they knew who I was picking up the boy. They did not care to verify. I had been in here before and it was better run. I told my friend and they've pulled their kid out.

CEO of Columbus, NE YMCA is judgmental bigot

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Im currently in town visiting family and needed a place to get some (training) in. So my sister and I decided to go to the Y since she has been a member for quite some time and they had just built a new facility. My old gym only has weights and machines. The YMCA interested me because they offer much more diversity in potential workouts.

While we were starting to get our Bench Press on, a person came over and interrupted our weight training. He stated that he is the CEO here and asked if we were members here? There was No "Welcome To the facility", "Are you new here?" "Can I show you around the facility?" But instead, he goes into stating that "our facility doesn't allow personal training from the outside" ..

I responded by stating: " we're training and I'm offering my sister a spot on bench press."

But did this end at this point, NO! This guy then rudely states that I'm clearly "BUFF" and clearly was an outside "trainer".

Would this of happened if I was wearing a sweat shirt and sweatpants and utilizing a cardio machine or if I was a man?

One time in this building was enough for me and can clearly see that the few weight lifters that DO use this gym don't matter. This facility will stay running clearly and only for families and team sports and not for what a gym can offer in all areas.

If you are a woman and don't want to be judged then you clearly shouldn't go to the "Young Mans Christian Facility"

UPDATE. this review was originally posted on the YMCA, columbus, ne facebook page, and Cory Honold (CEO) took the steps to even remove the reviews tab on the FACEBOOK page because of so many likes on this post, he is running a type of business that cannot provide a professional service, so needed to take down community response from everyone to see.

Extra Charges

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Today, 3/23/2016, I was asked to pay $5.00 to access the facilities at a YMCA away from my home town, a policy recently implemented by the Powers that be, at the YMCA; as if the monthly family membership isn’t costly enough, which seems to indiscriminately increase, each year. One of the attractive perks about being a member of the YMCA was the fact that I could go anywhere in the country and freely utilize the facility, no longer.

Those five dollars adds up, if you are frequently out of town and want to visit the “Y.” I hope the decision maker reconsider this extra charge.

Customer loyalty is a premium and one that the YMCA is doing it best to erode.

Resolved: YMCA unsafe child care

The YMCA took over a private gym on Lowell in La Cresenta LA area and since there are only 2 locker rooms they are telling the men that if we want to keep coming there we have to all little girls in the men's locker room and it's one big open room with one big open shower and naked men every where Many of the old gym members are getting a lawyer to start a class action suit against the YMCA I've been on the phone to every government agency I can find reporting this

ORMOND BEACH YMCA

The aquatics pool is beautiful. The staffers very nice and lifeguards BUT the WAY it is run by corporate is NOT! Higher u[p treat workers like *** and there is a HIGH turnover of employees. WATCH the way they constantly nit pick the poor low age (minimum wage) lifeguards at the pool. They want those kids to appear BUSY all of the time, all for a low wage they should be more concerned about patron safety - then making them SWEEP And CLEAN and WALK on the hot deck during there rest breaks! HORRIBLE atmosphere..

Extra Cost for nothing

This has happened to me 3 times, in 3 different years, over the course of 5 years. After starting a membership, I decide to terminate it within a couple months. But, they have a different idea. 2 months later, I receive a call that I owe for those months that I terminated and did not attend. Recently, I went through a community to receive a membership, and YMCA did the same thing to them. Now I know, that being a member there is not worth it. I have just now sent a message about how this establishment treats their members, to the governor. I hope this will end.

Worst Possible experience with YMCA, Wayne, NJ

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had one of the worst possible experience at YMCA, Wayne, NJ. I am a US citizen of Asian Indian heritage.

I had enrolled my 3 yr old daughter to their nursery program. For some strange reason they had been acting strange with me. While, I am waiting in front of her class to pick up my daughter from the school, people would almost bump on me to check what I am doing with my ipad almost on daily basis. On my daughter's 3rd birthday I purchased cupcakes, after checking with her teachers, from a famous local store and left with her class teachers in the morning.

I got permission to be present at the time (around noon)when the food will be distributed to all her class kids only after lot of deliberation. At the event, teachers, while my wife and I were present, had sliced some of the cupcakes in pieces and checked each of the cup cake pieces very thoroughly taking quite a while and then distributing only a small piece to each of the kids though there were lot more food than number of kids there. I had watched other kids' birthday celebration at Y before and after the event and I never saw such strange style. I observed number of days when my 3-yr old daughter were asked to sit at a distant table away from rest of the kids.

On several other occasions, I found my daughter was sitting alone at a classroom corner by herself for long time(I have observed for at least half an hour and then left, the class was for two and half hour plus half hour lunch time) while other kids are being attended and tutored. Finally, I complained to their child-care director as well as left feedback on their website.

I am still waiting to get a believable explanation from the school and response to my feedback on their website. I finally took my daughter off "Y".

My Dissabled son is being deprived/My credit affected

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
YMCA program in Woonsocket, RI is great! No complaints about the program itself, but the staff however is a different story. *-I recently moved to woonsocket, ri, due to my job being here. Anyway the director DIANE, has a poor poor attitude. She has over charged my account over and over again knowing that my son does not attend the YMCA any more. She knew the date because I spoke to her about it. They also deprived my son from joining a basketball team because she states I became a member and owe over 1000.00 US dollars. When in NO circumstance I joined! I have called her and left numerous messages and she refuses to return my calls or even answer. I have no idea what else to do, my son was being bullied and I brought this matter up a ffew times and nothing was done so I switched him to another program, Mind you my son has a dissability. Like I said the "Y" itself has a magnificant program and I really miss having my son there, but if Diane, does not get her act together than I will be forced to take further action.

Ymca Y Thrift Shop Review

I'm appalled at the device at the YMCA Thrift Store in Blacksburg. They try to tell you a price that is listed on items are not the right price and ask double for it. I mean really who does this and how are they getting away with it. The stuff is donated to them and they are asking way above what they should be.

AMY, the manager at the YMCA in Katy, needs to be FIRED

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Let's start off with this: AMY THE "MANAGER"is a terribly disgusting excuse for an employee & should be fired with URGENCY.

I'm an extremely calm, soft-spoken person. When it comes to the Y? It's a family-oriented facility that you'd assume treats their customers like family. Honestly, I don't even know where to begin with this location. For one, I'm all about customer service...many times, good customer service can make someone's day while bad customer service can break someone's day.

Unfortunately, I dealt with the worst type of customer service. Prior to even coming into the Y, I called to verify the times of the guest pass for the evenings. So once they gave me the times, I was headed up there, ready to work out some stress! But once I went up to the counter, to not only verify that I was a student to continue my membership & to also get a guest pass, a snarky, rude, passive-(overly) aggressive chimes in.

This manager's name is AMY. I will absolutely call YMCA's corporate office on her for her unprofessionalism, lack of customer service, condescending and utter rudeness & poor use of managerial skills.

Well, here's where *** hit the fan (yes, in the YMCA of ALL PLACES). AMY chimes in, declining the guest pass. So tell her that one of her fellow employees confirmed the evening guest times with me over the phone which is why my GUEST is with me. She continued to smile, shrug her shoulders & shake her head whilst saying, "Well, I don't know what to tell you. But that's the times." So I tell her, "Well I need to speak to a manager." She giggles, then smirks & shrugs her shoulders whilst pointing to herself. Extremely condescending & obnoxious, making herself easy to slap in the face.

At this point, at 6:30 in the evening after working 8-5 with my stress already high, I'm livid. The mannerisms & content of what she was saying while maintaining a "sweet" sounding voice would easily *** anyone off. So at that point, I tell AMY I wasn't talking to her from the get-go, & she could continue to deal with the person that had BEEN in front of her that needed service.

At this point, I'm telling the lady I was originally dealing with that I need another supervisor because I was not going to deal with her. I also continued to show the transcript of my grades to verify that I was in college. And AGAIN, AMY chimes in to grab the paper from the employee I was dealing with & tells me, "Well this isn't the paper that we need & (yada yada yada)." It was a TRANSCRIPT. AMY was doing everything in her power to make my evening of running on a treadmill hard for me. So I remind her that no one was speaking to her once again.

At this point, the person she was servicing tried to come to HER defense, as if I were attacking her. So I had to remind HIM that absolutely NO ONE was speaking to him! Not only had she already neglected him several times to go out of her way to get ugly with me, after I told her over 10 times to focus on her customer, not to speak to me & let the other employee speak to me, she RELENTLESSLY butted in & did NOTHING to diffuse the situation.

Long story short, I had to deal with a *smirks* supervisor over her head & they gave me NO ISSUES whatsoever, which is what it should have been from the get-go.

All in all, I will do absolutely EVERYTHING in my power to make sure AMY loses her job. I work in marketing for a nationwide company & customer service is the bare minimum of what we like to maintain & if THAT is how the Y wants to have their company represented, then I don't know what to say. But AMY is an absolutely DISGUSTING "manager" that got a big head (which her head was physically already big to begin with) from having a little taste of power.

Being a member for over 10 YEARS, I've had nothing but problems the last time I've come to this location. Amy put the nail in the coffin. Not only is the Y a family facility, her slap-worthy behavior was TOTALLY inappropriate that I had customers come up to me in the parking lot to tell me that she was absolutely wrong for what she did. This incident alone made me want to cancel my membership.
